Reliable and Sustainable Energy

Cricket Valley Energy Center (CVEC) is committed to providing sustainable, reliable electricity as one of the most efficient electricity producers in New York State. CVEC is a combined-cycle natural gas turbine (CCGT) facility and provides electricity with just one-third of the emissions compared to traditional coal plants. As new technologies and best practices become available, the CVEC team will work to consistently improve the sustainability and reliability of operations along with the health of its local environment.

Sustainability and Reliability Goals

The team at CVEC is committed to a sustainable, reliable energy future including:

  • Supporting New York State’s Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act and its zero emissions by 2040 goal for the electric sector. To meet this goal, the CVEC team is exploring options to transition the facility to renewable fuel sources to reach net zero carbon dioxide emissions by 2040.
  • Committing to a healthy local environment and clean air, operating in full compliance with a Title V Air Pollution Control Permit. The CVEC team will continue to invest in technologies that minimize any effect on its surrounding natural resources. To learn more, please visit the Air Quality Monitoring page.
  • Encouraging local investment in electric transportation and building electrification, and purchasing and investing in electrification technology for Dover, such as electric vehicle charging stations.
  • Being transparent about annual emissions and natural resource usage. Please visit the Ask Cricket Valley page to learn more about our natural resource conservation efforts.
