About Us

Cricket Valley Energy Center (CVEC) is a fully permitted, state-of-the-art, natural gas-fired power facility off Route 22 in Dover, New York. With the capacity to generate approximately 1,100 megawatts (MW) of electricity—enough to power 1 million homes—CVEC utilizes modern combined-cycle natural gas turbine (CCGT) technology to produce reliable electricity with fewer carbon emissions than traditional simple cycle gas or coal plants.

CVEC is located on a 167-acre industrially zoned property surrounded by a substantial tree buffer that minimizes potential visibility and noise while preserving wetlands and forests around the Swamp River. CVEC is located on a previously abandoned industrial site that just under a decade ago was a blight to the community.

Once a tire factory, a three-day fire left the property contaminated, unused, and unable to generate tax revenue for the Town of Dover. CVEC completed an extensive property remediation effort to remove contamination, waste piles, and debris, restoring the site to provide opportunity for economic revitalization, job creation, and tax revenue for the Town of Dover.

CVEC is owned by a consortium of equity investors. Ethos Energy Group operates the facility and Advanced Power actively manages the asset.
